We want to share with you two excellent birding opportunities coming up soon in Maryland.

#1 Birding Event this weekend: Saturday, December 8, 2012, Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge in Rock Hall, Maryland is holding its annual Open House. There are guided tours of several areas of the park, some of which are normally closed to the public. There is a different tour, talk, or nature walk at 9, 10:30, 11, 1:30 and 2:30. Music, a light lunch and wildlife exhibitors are all included. The event is free but you do need a ticket to go on a tour; tickets are to be picked up at the Refuge office the day of the event. This is a terrific chance to see some herons, osprey and bald eagles, as well as some other species you may have never seen before! Eastern Neck is only 12 miles from our Maryland Bed and Breakfast and is a popular destination for our guests who like the outdoors. The Open House takes place rain or shine!

#2 Birding Event: on Sunday December 16: The Christmas Bird Count is an historic nationwide event that YOU can participate in! Our friends Walter and Nancy from the Kent County Bird Club, who have led bird walks here at the Brampton Inn, will be there. If you want to help out with citizen science next Sunday, then please register by calling Walter or Nancy at 410-778-9568 or email rossgull@baybroadband.net
