Let the Fall Festival Season Begin!

Welcome to October, folks, and a month jam packed with special events, activities and fun! First Fridays always seem more fun in the fall for some reason:  That crisp air just adds something special to strolling the streets, sampling the free eats and drinks, meeting up with friends, and checking out the shopkeepers’ wares.

This weekend we have 2 of our most popular events of the whole year.  First, on Friday, (see what I did there?), be sure to check out the exhibit at RiverArts showcasing the artists whose studios will be on the 15th Annual Studio Tour later this month, October 25 & 26, and the following week, November 1 & 2.  The idea is you can see which artists you like the most and plan out your tour in advance.  There are almost 60 studios participating, spread out all over Kent County, so a little planning is helpful.

Then on Saturday, October 4, the Historical Society’s House Tour takes place from 1-5pm. This year’s theme is Painted Ladies and American Vintage: The Houses of Washington Avenue.  These are some gorgeous homes for sure, some never on the tour before. Washington Avenue is a broad street with nice sidewalks and it borders Washington College, which has a lovely campus.  You could take a break from houses by walking across the green very easily!  Sit under a shade tree, imagine George Washington himself strolling the very same grounds.  An historic weekend indeed!

And of course, if you happen to be staying with us at the Brampton Inn, you’ll be staying in a house from 1860 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  So, there’s that.

Happy Fall Festival Season!!!
