Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Models Live Images Revealed Just Ahead of its Official Debut

The South Korean consumer electronics maker, Samsung, will be conducting its Galaxy Unpacked event today on the 22nd of January 2025, and many of its latest products are going to be unveiled at the grand ceremony. Among the much-awaited products is the next Galaxy S25 series flagship models and just a few hours ahead of their global launch, the live images of three new devices of the series have been revealed online.

Here’s more about it.

Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra – Revealed Live Images

Unlike previous years, at this year’s first Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung is believed to unveil four new Galaxy S25 series models for its consumers and it is the live images of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones that have been revealed.

We have already come across the design images of all these three models in the past, and the live images align with it. We can spot key design aspects such as the flat display/rear/side panels, thin symmetrical bezels, centrally-aligned punch-hole selfie camera, Galaxy Z Fold 6-like camera rings, and rounded corners even for the Galaxy S25 Ultra model too.

It also seems that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models are featured in the ‘Silver Shadow’ color, whereas the Galaxy S25 Ultra can be seen possibly in the Titanium Black and Titanium Gray colors. The Galaxy S25 smartphone Blue color variant has also been shared, along with the packaging boxes of the three devices.

Last week the Chinese brand Xiaomi made its way into the South Korean market as it unveiled a few flagship smartphones- Xiaomi 14T and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. It is also revealed that Xiaomi plans to release more products like TVs, wearable devices, and robotic vacuum cleaners by next month in South Korea.

With the entry of Chinese brand Xiaomi in the South Korean market, domestic company Samsung seems to be on alert as a Korean publication (via) has revealed as per industry sources, Samsung Electronics has been paying a lot of attention to Xiaomi’s trends internally. Some within Samsung suggest that it is necessary to visit the offline store once it opens to check out the atmosphere.

This information hints that Samsung could be in an discomfort situation as Xiaomi is already known for its low price policy and even with lower prices the devices do not lack specifications or performance. For example, the recently unveiled Xiaomi 14T 12/256GB model is priced at 599,800 won and the 12/512GB model is priced at 649,800 won. This is only half of what other brands offer in the market and the device boosts features like Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 6.67-inch AMOLED display, and AI features.

Wel,l it will be slightly difficult for Xiaomi to set foot in South Korea as consumer loyalty to brands like Apple and Samsung is high in the market but as per an industry insider since many people use multiple smartphones for work, out of curiosity there may be demand for Xiaomi products. Also, it depends on how quickly Xiaomi secures its after-sales service network.

The appearance of Xiaomi in South Korea is expected to bring a shift among consumers. The company has already set the launch of Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G on 22nd January in South Korea, the same day on which Samsung will host the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.

The South Korean tech giant Samsung recently rolled out a January 2025 update to Galaxy S24 series models. The update enhanced the system security features of the smartphones. The company has now rolled out a second January 2025 update in Korea for Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Galaxy S24 Ultra- Second January 2025 Update

The update is based on One UI 6.1 and Android 14 OS. It arrives with firmware version S928NKSS4AXL3/S928NOKR4AXL3/S928NKSS4AXL1 and the size of the update is 376.82MB.

This update applies a security-related stabilization code to the smartphone. It arrives with a security patch level up to 10 January 2025.

Other than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also receiving the January 2025 second update in Korea. It is based on One UI 6.1.1 and Android 14. The update arrives with firmware version F741NKSS2AYA3/F741NOKR2AYA3/F741NKSU2AXJ9 and the size of the update is 385.17MB. It applies a security-related stabilization code to the device and includes the January 1, 2025 security patch level.

The first January update for the device arrived with firmware version F741NKSS2AXLF in South Korea.

Since this update is currently being spotted on the South Korean variants only, other regions can soon expect this update as well.

As pointed out earlier also, Samsung rolling out the January 2025 Android security patch update to Galaxy S24 models suggests that the OneUI 7 official version won’t be released this month for Galaxy S24 models. The company has already rolled out the One UI 7 Beta 3 update to the Galaxy S24 series and if finalized, the brand may release the One UI 7 Beta 4 update as well.

One UI 7 official version release is said to take place at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event that will be held on 22nd January.

Apple iPhone 17 Series and Samsung Galaxy S25 - Revealed Rear Panel Images

While Chinese smartphone makers are reportedly working on small-screen devices, the Cupertino-based Apple and South Korea-based Samsung are expected to unveil ultra-thin form factor devices in their upcoming flagship series. Following the previous update, an X tipster has shared more details concerning the Apple and Samsung ultra-thin smartphone models, raising concerns on whether they are practical or not.

Here’s more about it.

Apple iPhone 17 Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim – Practical or Not?

Based on the previous update that was shared, both the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim are suggested to arrive with batteries that have capacities ranging in between 3,000 to 4,000 mAh, and are going to have a body thickness in between 5.xmm to 6.xmm. However, the tipster @Cartidise raises the question whether these two devices are practical or not.

As per what has been shared by the tipster, no one really cares about how slim a smartphone is and 8mm or 8.5mm are both still thin. However, compromising on battery capacity to offer an even more slim form factor is impractical in his opinion. He also notes that Apple and Samsung are likely not expected to bring Si/C batteries in the first iteration of these thin phones.

Furthermore, he adds that their positioning is also confusing. For instance Samsung as already-known will be unveiling four new smartphone models in its Galaxy S25 series this time, and without dropping the plus model, the brand is planning to sell the slim model alongside it. Probably, the slim model could be priced USD 100 lesser than the ultra model or USD 100 more than the plus model. Apple on the other hand has decided to not release a plus model, and it is said to be replaced with the iPhone 17 Air.

It still remains to be seen whether the tech world would welcome the upcoming iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim ultra-thin smartphones or not, because so far there seems to be no demand for such devices when compared with the demand for small-sized phones. And on top, compromising on battery life is emphasized as a huge compromise by the tipster, which might probably backfire for the two brands.

Apple iPhone 17 Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim More Details Shared - X Update

Speaking more, Samsung has already confirmed the debut of its Galaxy S25 series flagships, and it will be taking place on the 22nd of January 2025, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Apple’s iPhone 17 series as always could be unveiled later this year in September or October 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Those tracking Samsung’s upcoming smartphones have likely heard a lot about the Galaxy M16 5G or Galaxy F16 5G. Now, we’re back with updated information on this device, as it has been spotted on the EMVCo database, revealing some key details.

Samsung Galaxy M16 5G on EMVco

The Galaxy M16 5G has now been spotted on the EMVCo database with the model number “SM-M166P/DS,” where “DS” confirms dual SIM connectivity. And, this may be disappointing for many of us, as this new certification also reveals Android 14 OS out of the box. This is not the first time the device has been linked to Android 14, as earlier Geekbench listings and the Wi-Fi Alliance database have also confirmed the same. Now we have three independent sources validating this information.

Although I have been vocal about how Samsung has been pushing out phones with the same old design, several recent renders, including those of the A26 5G, A36 5G, A56 5G, and the Galaxy M16 and F16 5G, suggest a new design direction. Even the newly discovered Galaxy A06 5G on the FCC database also shows a design variation from its 4G variant.

Another detail outlined by this certification is that the Galaxy M16 5G will feature Samsung’s S3NRN4VX NFC controller with firmware version 6.5.8.

So far, Samsung hasn’t shared any updates on this upcoming smartphone, as it is likely still focused on the Galaxy Unpacked January 2025 Event. In the meantime, you can check out the expected specifications from earlier leaks and listings.

Expected Specs of Galaxy M16 5G aka F16 5G

It is expected to launch with Android 14 and feature the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, ARM Mali G57 MC2 GPU, and at least 8GB of RAM. Connectivity specs include dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz & 5GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, dual SIM support, and WPA2/WPA3 protection. Both M16 5G and F16 5G are rumoured to sport a 6.7-inch Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, alongside a 50MP main camera, 5MP ultra wide-angle, and 2MP macro sensors, housed in a vertical camera array. It is expected to be powered by a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.

The device will come in various colours: Blue, Deep Blue, Purple with a plain finish, and Orange, Light Blue, Light Purple, and Dark Green with a gradient design. The rear camera module design will feature a metal camera island with an LED flash outside the module.

The South Korean consumer electronics maker, Samsung, will soon be conducting its Galaxy Unpacked event at which it is going to unveil many of its latest products. Amidst this, reports concerning three new tablet devices that the brand is currently working on have been revealed online (via Android Authority).

Here’s more about it.

Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro and Galaxy Tab S10 FE Series – In Works

Very recently, it was said that the XCover 7 Pro rugged smartphone is in works with the Galaxy 7s Gen 3 chip onboard and it seems that this is not the only rugged version device that Samsung is working on. The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro tablet is also in works, and is revealed to use the same Galaxy 7s Gen 3 chip (SM7635) as well. The code shared also points out that both 5G+WiFi and WiFi-only variants will be available. Just to add, the non-pro or standard models of both these devices – the Galaxy XCover 7 and Galaxy Tab Active 5 have already been launched, at the same time, and maybe the pro models could also debut together.
