Next month in February 2025, the tech world is said to witness the debut of a lot of new smartphone devices and now, a reliable tipster on the Weibo platform has tipped the possible upcoming devices.

New Phones Said to Debut in February 2025

This update comes from the tipster – Digital Chat Station who in his Weibo post notes that five new smartphone models are confirmed to break their cover next month in February 2025. This includes Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra iterative camera flagship, OPPO’s Find N5 book-like or horizontally-folding flagship, Realme’s Neo 7 SE device, Huawei’s Pocket 3 clamshell foldable, as well as an undisclosed Snapdragon 8 Elite mid-range performance phone. These new devices will be unveiled in the Chinese market following the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival of this year (29th January 2025).

Speaking more, both the Snapdragon 8 Elite (7-core)-powered Find N5 and Dimensity 8400 Ultra-powered Realme Neo 7 SE devices are officially confirmed to launch next month in China, while previous reports also suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also probably launch in the same month itself. The previous Huawei Pocket 2 smartphone was launched in February 2024 and considering this, its successor – the Huawei Pocket 3 is also being expected to launch in the same time frame this year – in February (or maybe March) 2025 as per previous updates.

Regarding the undisclosed Snapdragon 8 Elite mid-range performance phone, the tech world has two guesses, it could either be the Realme GT 7 or Honor GT Pro. Both these smartphones are believed to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip itself, and the Realme GT 7 was also recently tipped to launch next month in February 2025. However, the Honor GT Pro launch was earlier reported to be in Q2 2025.

Oppo Find N5 is already confirmed to make its debut in the Chinese market next month. The device is said to arrive as the world’s thinnest flagship device and lately, the rumor mill has been buzzing with the updates of this upcoming smartphone.

Yesterday an Oppo device was spotted on the Geekbench database and it was believed to be the upcoming Oppo Find N5 device. The database revealed that the smartphone is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Oppo’s Product Manager, Zhou Yibao recently shared a few glimpses of the Oppo Find N5 design and now he has officially confirmed the wireless charging capability of the device.

He mentioned in the above post, that it was earlier said that any phone called Find will come with wireless charging as standard. Further, he confirmed that Oppo Find N5 comes standard with 50W wireless charging allowing foldable screen users to charge the device by simply keeping it in the car. Further in the comment section, Zhou also replied to a few users in the comments section confirming that the device will feature a straight screen and support reverse charging.

Yesterday he also officially confirmed that Oppo Find N5 will arrive with IPX6/IPX8/IPX9 support and should be the only folding flagship supporting these ratings.

Further, it is also revealed by Oppo Find N Product Manager, that the speaker is on the other side of the device, and regarding the Crease control it is said that the crease goal is not to be worse than N3. The sales for the device are said to start in February itself.

New Chinese Flagship Series – Revealed Sales Figures

This update comes from the Chinese tipster – Digital Chat Station, and the shared data is as per on 12th of January, 2025. As mentioned, these sales figures are likely about the latest Xiaomi 15 series, Huawei Mate 70 series, Vivo X200 series, and OPPO Find X8 series.

In the Xiaomi 15 series, in October 2024, two smartphone models were unveiled – Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. The sales figure of the series is revealed to have crossed 2 million. To add, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone is also said to join the series next month in February 2025 as the third model of the series, and as the brand’s next iterative camera flagship.

For the Huawei Mate 70 series, four smartphone models (Huawei Mate 70, Huawei Mate 70 Pro, Huawei Mate 70 Pro+, and Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design) were unveiled in November 2024. The sales figure of Huawei’s Mate 70 series is pointed out as 1.5 million.

Coming to Vivo’s X200 series, it was launched in October 2024 with three smartphone models – Vivo X200, Vivo X200 Pro, and Vivo X200 Pro mini. The series reportedly invited 1.2 million in sales. Additionally, Vivo X200s (series) and Vivo X200 Ultra devices are also expected to join the series this year.

Finally, the OPPO Find X8 series also debuted in October 2024 with two models – OPPO Find X8 and OPPO Find X8 Pro. The series is suggested to have sold 1 million in sales. This year, three more new models are believed to join the series – OPPO Find X8 mini, OPPO Find X8S, and OPPO Find X8 Ultra.

The Chinese consumer electronics maker, OPPO, is believed to unveil its Watch X2 series models next month (February 2025) in its home market and we have already come across a few certification listings of the upcoming devices. Now, the OPPO Watch X2 (OWW242) model has been certified by the TENAA authority, revealing key specs and its render image.

OPPO Watch X2 (OWW242) – TENAA Certification

The upcoming OPPO Watch X2 smartwatch carrying the model number – ‘OWW242′ has received the TENAA certification with the certificate number of ’00-D124-249419’ and has been listed as a ‘TD-LTE wireless data terminal device’. It is pointed out to run on Android operating system, support eSIM (compatible with China Unicom and China Mobile operators), and pack a 345 mAh rated battery. Bluetooth, GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Wi-Fi, and NFC connectivity are also supported.

Speaking of the revealed render image, it is different from the OPPO ‘OWW251’ image, and we can spot it with White/Cream leather straps, circular dial, Gold body + White/Silver bezels, and likely a rotating crown at the right. A previous report also suggests it to be made available in Infinite Brown, Peak Blue, and Black Lava colors, and to not support ECG.

Speaking more, OPPO is now believed to introduce three new Watch X2 series models this time – Watch X2, Watch X2 (46mm), & Watch X2 Pro. The previous update also claims that there are five variants in work – OPPO Watch X2 (OWW242), OPPO Watch X2 Pro (OWW251), OPPO Watch X2 – Global (OWWE251), OnePlus Watch 3 (OPWW251), and OnePlus Watch 3 – Global (OPWWE251).

Apart from these, the OPPO Watch X2 (series) was tipped recently to support blood pressure warning function, whereas previous reports pointed to key specs such as an OLED round display, ColorOS full intelligent system, ECG electrocardiogram (for certain models), 60-seconds health check, wrist temperature measurement, exercise monitoring, GPS, 4G (eSIM), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, great waterproof capabilities, 631 mAh/648 mAh battery backup, and the 10W fast charge support.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ Chip – Expected Launch Time Frame and First Devices to Feature it

This update comes from the Weibo tipster – Digital Chat Station, who in his post notes that many new straight screen phones equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip are in works and will be released. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ chip (X925) is also pointed out to have attained a primary clock speed of 3.7 GHz at present and it is tipped to launch in March 2025, two months later. Furthermore, two smartphone makers are revealed to launch devices featuring this latest MediaTek Dimensity chip first, and from what it seems, they are believed to be OPPO and Vivo.

The small straight screen light weight periscope telephoto phone is likely the OPPO Find X8 mini (OPPO Find X8S is also said to use the same processor), whereas the large straight screen camera phone with all round ultrasonic fingerprint reader is possibly the Vivo X200s model (older updates suggested it to use the same Dimensity 9400 chip which powers the already launched X200 series devices). To add, the Find X8 mini is tipped to have a 6.3″ display screen, and on the other hand the X200s model is expected to offer a 6.67″ display.

Both these OPPO and Vivo smartphones are suggested to launch in the earlier half of this year itself in 2025 and we can expect the two brands to announce the launch following the release of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip. Stay tuned.

It is the 16GB RAM variant of the device that has been listed on the benchmark platform, revealing others specs like Android 15 operating system, motherboard with codename ‘sun’, hexa-core processor with 4.32 GHz primary clock speed and 3.53 GHz base clock speed, and Adreno 830 GPU.

Qualcomm very recently announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship chip with a 7-core architecture, and based on the details provided on Geekbench, this chipset will likely be used in OPPO’s Find N5 foldable smartphone.

The Chinese smartphone maker, OPPO, will be unveiling its latest and upcoming flagship horizontally-folding smartphone – the OPPO Find N5 next month and as we approach the launch time frame, more and more details concerning this device are being shared. Now, the render image revealing its design aspects have been shared online as well.

OPPO Find N5 – Revealed Render Image

This revealed render image of the OPPO Find N5 flagship aligns quite well with recent design updates, and there are a few notable changes when compared with its predecessor, particularly with respect to the camera module of the upcoming device. While the overall design language looks somewhat similar to the previous Find N3 smartphone, the Find N5 device has a flat cover display featuring symmetrical bezels on all four sides and a centrally-aligned punch-hole selfie camera.

Coming to the rear panel, it is again flat, with a centrally-placed slightly-projected camera module. The camera module has a dual tone design at its interior and around it, and houses four internal circular units. Also, there is a periscope telephoto lens inside the first internal circular unit, whereas the last fourth internal circular unit has the LED flashlight. The second and third internal units also have camera sensors inside of it. Thus, the Find N5, just like its predecessor, will also likely be offering a triple camera module. Additionally, the Hasselblad branding can be spotted at the center of the camera module.

Speaking more, the side panels also appear flat in shape with antenna lines, and have rounded corners. There is an alert slider at the left side panel, and the volume rocker and power button are present on the right side panel. From what it seems, the rear panel also features a leather material too.

The OPPO Find N5 foldable will be having its official debut next month (February 2025) in the Chinese market, and later will also be launched globally as suggested by its certifications (SIRIM, SDPPI, & Camera FV 5 certifications). Just like how the Find N3 was re-branded as the OnePlus Open, this time’s Find N5 is also said to arrive re-branded as the next OnePlus Open 2.

About some of its other revealed/expected specs and features, the Find N5 has been teased to be unveiled as the thinnest folding flagship of the world, and it has the internal codename – ‘Seagull’, further suggesting its powerful performance and competitiveness. Oppo Find N5 will be making its debut next month in the Chinese market. This upcoming device was teased to arrive as the world’s thinnest flagship model while yesterday camera module of this device was also tipped online. It is said that OnePlus Open 2 could arrive as the rebranded version of the Oppo Find N5, just like how the Oppo Find N3 was launched as the OnePlus Open.

Recently the renders of OnePlus Open 2 also leaked online giving an idea about its design, but it appears that those renders could be wrong. This is because Oppo’s Product Manager, Zhou Yibao, has today officially shared a few glimpses of the upcoming Oppo Find N5 (OnePlus Open 2) smartphone.

Oppo Find N5 will be arriving with quite a thin body compared with a few stacks of cards and it was seen that the device was even thinner than those cards together. The device is hinted to arrive witha  Titanium body, when folded, speaker rills can be seen at the bottom on either side. The charging port can also be seen in the above images. So as per the new info revealed by the Oppo Manager, the earlier renders of OnePlus Open 2 seem to be wrong.

Other than this, the rear side of the Oppo Find N5 also surfaced online. Though the camera module and rear panel design are hidden with a case it seems like the device may arrive with a round camera module. Three camera sensors and an LED flash can be seen.

Recently various Oppo and Realme users in Thailand found an irremovable loan app, Fineasy pre-installed on their devices that can send notifications and access user’s personal data, including their contact lists and phone numbers. This raised a concern of security among the users who then started complaining about this issue on social media.

This matter was taken into consideration by the Thailand Consumers Council which stated this pre-installing of the app without users’ consent is a violation of consumer rights, as the users could neither prevent access to personal information nor uninstall the app. The council is calling on government agencies including, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, and the Bank of Thailand to investigate the issue promptly to protect consumers from potential online financial fraud.

Soon after the investigation started, both Oppo and Realme smartphone brands officially issued a statement apologising to the users for the inconvenience caused. The brands mentioned that they have been cooperating and working closely with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission and other relevant agencies to resolve the issue.

The brands will also be taking the following measures-

• On January 13, 2025, the Fineasy app issued an in-app announcement to suspend the service
• From January 14, 2025 new phones that have not yet fixed the Fineasy app installation issue will no longer be sold
• From January 16, 2025 smartphone users will receive OTA updates, which are new system versions that no longer require the installation of the app
• From January 14, the pre-installing of third-party loan apps on Oppo and Realme devices will be stopped

It is said that if violations are found in the investigation, both companies could face fines of up to 3 million baht and other penalties. As per the current update, PM’s office Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai has revealed that representatives from Oppo and Realme have been summoned to explain the installation of the loan app. Meanwhile, victims are also encouraged to file complaints and the phone distributors must clarify the issue.

On data leak to China, Jiraporn said the CPB will collect information from affected consumers and may need international cooperation.

Can Realme and Oppo be blacklisted in Thailand?

Digital Economy And Society Ministry, Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong said that relevant laws need to be looked at first as there are no clear regulations for installing software and applications on mobile phones. The scope of the investigation will be dependent on legal factors.

Apart from these agencies, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau also launched an investigation into this matter and found that the loan apps were part of ColorOS which is developed by phone manufacturers. In the latest Android 15 version the apps Fineasy and Happiness Loan were found pre-installed without user consent. Authorities are now determining if this violates Section 13 of the Computer Crime Act, which prohibits distributing software specifically designed as a tool for committing crimes. Violators face up to one year in prison, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both.

Amid this ongoing investigation, Oppo has also postponed the launch of its Reno 13 5G series that was scheduled for yesterday in Thailand while the Thai distributor, Possfey grou,p and Chinese manufacturer are being investigated for possible violations whereas Realme and its Thai distributors are also under investigation for the same issue.

Few of the key specs of the two variants have also been revealed via the listings.

The 4G model is revealed to feature a dimension of 164.82 x 75.53 x 7.76 ~ 7.86 mm, and is suggested to come with a battery (with BLPB65 model number – 5640 mAh rated battery), charging adapters (with VCB4JAEH/ VCB4JAUH/ VCB4JAYH/ VCB4JATH/ VCB4JAAH/ VCB4HAEH/ VCB4HAUH/ VCB4HAYH/ VCB4HAAH model number – 45W fast charging), along with a USB cable (with DL154 model number).

On the SIRIM certification database of Malaysia, the OPPO A5 Pro 4G with model number – ‘CPH2711’ has been listed, and it has received the certification with the type approval code of ‘RGQL/25I/0125/S(24-5795)’. The moniker of the device has also been mentioned on the database, and the certification validity is till the 13th of January 2030.

Speaking more, both these OPPO A5 Pro 4G and 5G models have previously made it to other certification platforms too. The OPPO A5 Pro 4G has received certifications from NBTC, EEC, Camera FV5, TUV Rheinland, and SDPPI authorities, whereas the OPPO A5 Pro 5G has made it to the NBTC, BIS, TDRA, Camera FV5, TUV SUD, and SDPPI certification databases. Moreover, the Chinese variant of the OPPO A5 Pro 5G has already made its debut last month in the brand’s home market.
