The generative artificial intelligence chat bot developed by Elon Musk founded xAI – Grok was introduced in 2023 on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), and later a standalone app version of Grok also came out which is currently available in several countries (for iOS). Very recently, a web version of the AI chat bot was also released, that can be accessed without an X account and with features like temporary data mode and personalized settings.

Now, it has been reported that Google Search is indexing Grok conversations made by X users, and it is available and accessible to other users on the web. Read more about it below.

Is Google Search Indexing Grok Conversations?

While brands have been assuring safety and privacy across their AI services and taking necessary steps to prevent any misuse of the features, it has come to notice that Google Search has been indexing Grok conversations that have been made by X users (received via @gaganghotra_). xAI’s Grok chat bot which is a direct competitor for OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini was recently introduced as a web version too, and one of its new key features is the ‘Temporary Mode’ that enables users to have conversations with the history not being saved anywhere or used to train language models.

As per what has been shared, a large amount of chat made by Japanese X users with Grok have been indexed on Google Search, and it is not sure whether users are aware about this or not. Just to add, Japan is said to be ranked second as per region-wise number of X users, and do note that Grok’s chat data is being exposed to the public through one of its competitors. Moreover, this news comes following the introduction of the Grok web version.

Google Search has indexed an insane number of Grok conversations but do those users know - X Post

The matter is a very serious AI privacy issue, and for people who might be talking to Grok as a friend would possibly be at great risk as what they are communicating is accessible to others as well, and can be misused. xAI will have to look into this matter, giving it the utmost importance, and users of AI chat bots are best advised to not be very open and share their personal details as these may always likely pose a privacy threat like this.

Remember when cramming your tweets with hashtags was the golden ticket to visibility? Well, those days are apparently over, according to both Elon Musk and Grok, X’s AI assistant designed to help users with tasks, problem-solving, and answering questions.

Musk recently cut straight to the point with a simple message: “Please stop using hashtags. The system doesn’t need them anymore and they look ugly.” No corporate-speak, just a straightforward request to ditch the pound signs.

In response to a user asking about hashtag usage on X, Grok delivered a particularly witty take that’s been making rounds on the platform. The AI assistant compared using hashtags to installing “a screen door on a submarine” – basically pointless. Grok took a humorous jab at those #blessed and #justgirlythings posts, describing hashtag-heavy tweets as “desperate cries into the void.”

The AI didn’t pull any punches, warning that stuffing your posts with hashtags these days might actually tank your engagement. As Grok put it, you might as well watch your post “plummet like a stone into the abyss.” Ouch.

The message is pretty clear: X’s system has evolved beyond needing these digital markers for content discovery. What was once essential for getting your posts seen is now apparently just digital clutter.

So, should you use hashtags on X? The consensus between Musk and the platform’s AI assistant seems to be a resounding “nope.” The platform’s algorithm has grown up, and maybe it’s time for our posting habits to grow up too. Sometimes less really is more – especially when it comes to those little pound signs.

Grok Analysis

X (formerly Twitter) may soon introduce a feature called the “Explain This Post” button, aimed at helping users better understand cryptic or complex posts. According to X user @DogeDesigner, the feature would leverage Grok, X’s AI tool, to generate quick summaries or analyses of posts with just one click.

While the feature hasn’t been officially confirmed, it has the potential to simplify the often chaotic flow of information on the platform. However, details about its launch timeline or broader availability remain unclear.

Currently, Grok already has the ability to understand and analyse images. This feature enables users to upload images and ask questions about their content, including explaining visual jokes or puns.

This rumoured feature comes on the heels of another update X appears to be testing: parody account labels. Spotted by user @nima_owji, the labels would appear directly under the account name to clearly indicate when an account is meant for satire or parody.

The potential addition follows previous issues with impersonation on the platform. After launching paid verification, X saw a surge of fake accounts mimicking brands and public figures, which caused significant confusion. At the time, X enforced rules requiring parody accounts to include “parody” in their name and bio. The new label could offer a simpler, more visible solution.

However, without official confirmation, it’s unclear when or if these features will be implemented. For now, they remain part of ongoing speculation surrounding X’s evolving features.

Social media platform X is filled with accounts that impersonate real-life public figures like politicians, actors, sports professionals, and more. This leads in creating confusion for users sometimes. This problem seems to be now taken into consideration as tipster @nima_owji shared that X is working on the Parody Account label.

The tipster has also revealed that this label will be visible below the username for parody accounts and the posts shared by those accounts. It is said that Parody accounts have to label their accounts, otherwise they may violate X policy. This label will lead to less chance of someone mixing up a post from a parody account with the real person’s account.

X will be using a robot emoji to label parody accounts. This same emoji is used for the bot accounts on X as well which has raised questions among users that the same emoji for bot and parody accounts could confuse the users on the platforms more.

It is also said that if the new label is rolled out, enforcing its adoption may be difficult, as some parody accounts may choose not to use it. Meanwhile, X currently has a policy for parody, commentary, and fan accounts that allows them as long as they don’t impersonate real profiles in order to mislead or spread false information on the platform.

Recently Donald Trump won the US- presidential election and claimed his victory. Well, a congratulatory message for Donald Trump drew a lot of attention online. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif today congratulated US-President-elect Trump on his victory in the presidential elections via an X post.

This post drew a lot of attention and criticism from users on the platform because earlier this year, Pakistan’s interior ministry imposed a temporary ban on X due to security issues, and reiterated that the platform had not established a legal presence in Pakistan, making it difficult to hold it accountable under laws.

Since the temporary ban, users in Pakistan have been facing issues while using the X platform. Now after this tweet from Pakistan’s PM, people have started questioning him about the hypocrisy of putting a temporary ban on the social media platform but still using it.

Not only this, as seen in the above image, this congratulatory post by the PM has also received a community note from X that claimed that Shehbaz Sharif is using a VPN to access X which is unlawful according to Pakistan law.

X Dislike Button

Last month, rumours began circulating that X might soon introduce a dislike button featuring a broken heart icon. This new feature was said to function similarly to the downvote options seen on platforms like Quora or Reddit. For those who aren’t aware, this feature was already being tested in 2021, long before Elon’s acquisition.

After a month of silence, it now appears that the dislike button is already being rolled out to some users. According to a post by @cb_doge on X, the feature has been made available to select users. However, it remains unclear whether the rollout will begin with the US audience or if it will be launched globally from the start.

Recently, X introduced the passkey feature for Android users. If you recall, when the passkey feature on X was first launched on iOS, it was initially available to users in the US before being rolled out globally. A similar pattern could occur here, but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from X or Elon, which could happen soon.

Musk-owned X has announced that it’s stopping operations in Brazil, though its service will remain available to users nationwide. As per the post by the X’ Global Government Affairs, last night Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes threatened X’ legal representative in Brazil with arrest. The post said he wanted the platform to comply with his censorship orders. The post reads “ Last night, Alexandre de Moraes threatened our legal representative in Brazil with arrest if we do not comply with his censorship orders. He did so in a secret order, which we share here to expose his actions”.

In an earlier post, the company shared the official document from the Supreme Court of Brazil that demanded the censorship of popular Brazilian accounts, including a pastor, a current parliamentarian, and the wife of a former parliamentarian.

Musk’s X even agreed once to obey the order, though things have taken a wild turn. The recent post by X further wrote “Moraes has chosen to threaten our staff in Brazil rather than respect the law or due process. As a result, to protect the safety of our staff, we have decided to close our operation in Brazil, effective immediately.”
