LG has launched the PuriCare AeroBooster, a new air purifier designed to enhance indoor air quality with advanced technology and a compact design. The product features the Aero Series V Filter for reducing dust, odors, viruses, and bacteria. Dual Airflow and Clean Booster technology provide efficient air circulation, delivering purified air up to 5.5 metres.

The AeroBooster also includes UVnano™ technology to remove 99.99% of bacteria from the fan surfaces and a built-in ionizer to neutralize harmful airborne particles. The slim design and customizable mood lighting ensure it blends seamlessly into any space. An LED display adds intuitive control.

Energy efficiency is a key highlight, with the AI+ Mode reducing energy consumption by over 49% compared to the default Smart+ Mode. The device also operates quietly at 21 dBA in Sleep Mode and supports remote management through LG ThinQ™.

The device’s features have been independently tested. TÜV Rheinland verified the ionizer’s antibacterial performance of 99.5% against Escherichia coli and confirmed an ion concentration of 5,000,000 at a 100-millimetre distance from the air discharge outlet. TÜV Rheinland also found that the AI+ Mode delivers 49.6% greater energy efficiency compared to the Smart+ Mode during testing conditions.

James Lee, president of LG ES Company, stated, “The AeroBooster combines advanced air purification technology and a stylish, convenient design to enhance everyday living.”

The LG PuriCare AeroBooster will be available this month across select Asian markets, including Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore, with wider availability to follow. The press release does not mention plans for an India launch.

The LG UltraGear G8 27″ gaming monitor as suggested by its moniker features a 27″ large 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) Nano IPS Black display, and delivers deep contrast and great color accuracy. It supports dual refresh modes – ‘240Hz at 4K resolution’ and ‘480Hz at 1080p resolution’. To reduce motion blur, the brand has also provided 1ms GtG response time too.

Other key display specs include a contrast ratio of 2000:1, brightness of 450 nits, and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification for sharp and vibrant visuals. Speaking more, narrow bezels on four sides, tilt/height/rotation/pivot adjustment, built-in FPS counter, enhanced accuracy with cross hair overlay, reduced input lag with dynamic action sync, better visibility in dark with Black stabilizer, and unique hexagonal lighting design are few more of its key specs. To note, it does not have in-built speakers.

As mentioned above, currently LG’s UltraGear G8 27″ gaming monitor is listed only in China and Japan. To add, in the Chinese market it is priced CNY 5999 (~ USD 818). LG has now revealed a new line of audio products under the name “Xboom by Will.i.am” at the CES 2025. The new product line includes XBOOM BOUNCE, XBOOM GRAB,  XBOOM STAGE 301 Bluetooth speakers, and XBOOM BUDS earbuds.

All products in the XBOOM lineup have AI capabilities that improve the listening experience. These include AI Sound for automatic content analysis and adjustment, AI Lighting for synchronized multicolored illumination, and AI Calibration for optimizing audio output based on surroundings. Each device integrates with will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform through a dedicated button, providing access to personalized content curated by an AI Radio Host. The entire range also supports LE Audio Auracast technology, meaning you can connect two speakers to give you stereo surround sound.

XBOOM Bounce

It has a built-in up-bouncing passive radiator, dual dome tweeters, and a track-type woofer that delivers high-frequency stereo with precise highs and an expanded soundstage. LG’s 2025 gram Lineup to be Showcased at CES 2025

The 2025 gram lineup models are pointed out to be the brand’s first on-device AI-powered laptops, leveraging the gram AI technology. The highlight of the gram series – iconic slim and light-weight design has been retained in the latest 2025 models too, at the same time they are capable of delivering best AI features and performance with the help of large language models and personalized AI functionalities.

Speaking more, other AI capabilities or features include gram chat On-Device, Cloud-based AI services via gram chat Cloud (one-year subscription free), GPT-4o integration, and ‘Time Travel’ which enables users to quickly and easily revisit web pages and other files. LG Electronics (LG) announced its UltraGear GX9 series on Monday, comprising three new OLED gaming monitors. These models will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, beginning January 7 in Las Vegas. The lineup includes the LG UltraGear OLED 45GX990A, which features a 45-inch flexible OLED display with 5K2K resolution and has already earned the ‘Best of Innovation’ title at the CES 2025 Innovation Awards. Alongside it, LG will unveil the UltraGear 45GX950A and the UltraGear 39GX90SA, a smart monitor powered by LG’s webOS platform.

Key Features of the UltraGear GX9 Series

The 45GX990A features a 45-inch bendable OLED screen with 5K2K resolution (5,120 x 2,160 pixels) and a 21:9 aspect ratio. According to LG, this format delivers a more immersive gaming experience than standard 16:9 displays. Users can adjust the screen from a completely flat configuration to a 900R curvature, offering flexibility for different gaming scenarios. The model includes an ultra-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time and second-generation Dual-Mode functionality, enabling eight customizable refresh rates and resolution settings.

Meanwhile, the 45GX950A also features a 45-inch OLED display with the same resolution and aspect ratio. However, it has an 800R curvature instead of a bendable screen. With a pixel density of 125 pixels per inch (PPI) and an RGWB subpixel layout, it enhances text readability and supports productivity tasks alongside gaming. Both models support DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 technologies, are NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified, and are compatible with features like variable refresh rate (VRR).

The 39GX90SA, on the other hand, is a 39-inch gaming monitor with an 800R curved OLED display and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Powered by LG’s webOS, it doubles as an entertainment hub, allowing users to stream content without the need for additional hardware such as a PC or set-top box. The monitor also includes USB Type-C connectivity and an ergonomic stand for streamlined desk setups.

Additional Details

All UltraGear GX9 models employ LG’s WOLED technology, designed for high brightness, true blacks, and vivid colors. Certified for low blue light emissions, these monitors aim to reduce eye strain during extended use. LG Electronics has announced the global launch of its innovative 77-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED T, the world’s first transparent and wireless 4K OLED TV. The groundbreaking television will debut in the U.S. market this December, followed by other markets.

First showcased at CES 2024, where it received five CES 2024 Innovation Awards including Best of Innovation, the OLED T also made TIME’s Best Inventions 2024 list. The TV features a unique transparent screen that can switch between transparent and opaque modes with a single button press.

The OLED T comes with several distinctive features:

• T-Objet: An Always-On-Display mode that turns the screen into a transparent digital canvas
• T-Bar: An information ticker that displays along the screen’s bottom edge
• T-Home: A user interface providing organized access to services, apps, and settings

Powered by LG’s α (Alpha) 11 AI processor, the OLED T maintains the company’s standards for picture quality while adding the unique ability to transform from transparent to opaque. When transparent, it creates an illusion of floating content while maintaining visibility of the space behind it, allowing for placement in front of windows without blocking natural light or views.

Pricing and Availability

The LG SIGNATURE OLED T is priced at USD 59,999 (approximately Rs. 51,03,485) and is currently available for pre-order in the US, with shipping scheduled to begin January 16th, 2025. LG plans to expand availability to additional markets in the coming months.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has participated in a $700 million funding round for AI chipmaker Tenstorrent, which was led by Samsung Securities and South Korea’s AFW Partners. The round values the Santa Clara-based company at approximately $2.6 billion, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Tenstorrent, founded by semiconductor expert Jim Keller, develops AI chips and systems with a focus on cost efficiency and compatibility. Other investors in this round include LG Electronics, Fidelity, and Bezos Expeditions.

The funds will support Tenstorrent’s plans to expand its engineering team, strengthen its supply chain, and build AI training servers to showcase its technology. The company is designing chips to compete with Nvidia’s offerings by using open-source components and avoiding expensive high-bandwidth memory (HBM).

“You can’t beat Nvidia if you use HBM because Nvidia buys the most HBM and has a cost advantage,” said Keller. “But they’ll never be able to bring the price down the way HBM is built into their products and their sockets.”

Unlike Nvidia’s integrated proprietary ecosystem, Tenstorrent focuses on open and interoperable solutions, which aim to provide developers with greater flexibility and cost efficiency.

Tenstorrent supports the RISC-V open-standard processor architecture, positioning itself as an alternative to proprietary designs such as those from Arm Holdings. Keller emphasised the advantages of open-source technology in attracting engineers and building collaborative platforms.

“In the past, I worked with proprietary tech, and it was really tough,” Keller said. “Open source helps you build a bigger platform. It attracts engineers. And yes, it’s a little bit of a passion project.”

The company has reported contracts worth $150 million to date, which is significantly smaller than Nvidia’s data center revenues. Tenstorrent plans to release new AI processors every two years, contrasting Nvidia’s annual updates.

Tenstorrent’s initial chips were produced by GlobalFoundries, with future designs to be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) and Samsung Electronics. The company is exploring advanced 2-nanometer fabrication, with discussions underway with TSMC, Samsung, and Japan’s Rapidus, which aims for 2nm production by 2027.

AFW Partners invested in the company after feedback from Korean collaborators, including LG. “We were impressed by the synergy Tenstorrent has with its partners,” said Bonil Koo, Managing Director at AFW Partners.

The funding round included a wide range of participants, such as the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, Export Development Canada, Hyundai Motor Group, and investment firm Baillie Gifford.
