Samsung Galaxy M16 5G surfaces on EMVCO database with Android 14 and Samsung’s S3NRN4VX NFC controller
Those tracking Samsung’s upcoming smartphones have likely heard a lot about the Galaxy M16 5G or Galaxy F16 5G. Now, we’re back with updated information on this device, as it has been spotted on the EMVCo database, revealing some key details.
Samsung Galaxy M16 5G on EMVco
The Galaxy M16 5G has now been spotted on the EMVCo database with the model number “SM-M166P/DS,” where “DS” confirms dual SIM connectivity. And, this may be disappointing for many of us, as this new certification also reveals Android 14 OS out of the box. This is not the first time the device has been linked to Android 14, as earlier Geekbench listings and the Wi-Fi Alliance database have also confirmed the same. Now we have three independent sources validating this information.
Although I have been vocal about how Samsung has been pushing out phones with the same old design, several recent renders, including those of the A26 5G, A36 5G, A56 5G, and the Galaxy M16 and F16 5G, suggest a new design direction. Even the newly discovered Galaxy A06 5G on the FCC database also shows a design variation from its 4G variant.
Another detail outlined by this certification is that the Galaxy M16 5G will feature Samsung’s S3NRN4VX NFC controller with firmware version 6.5.8.
So far, Samsung hasn’t shared any updates on this upcoming smartphone, as it is likely still focused on the Galaxy Unpacked January 2025 Event. In the meantime, you can check out the expected specifications from earlier leaks and listings.
