It’s Springtime, so it’s time for the Locavore Literary Festival!

Hang in there folks, spring really is just around the corner; even if it might not seem like it.

For the last 4 years, early spring has meant the arrival of one of our favorite events of the year, the Locavore Literary Festival.  Presented by the Center for Environment and Society at Washington College,  the festival features various authors and lecturers that celebrate the value of local food to help heal both our health and the health of the environment, as well as build community.

This year the emphasis is on how we feed our children, with 2 different speakers addressing the issue, as well as a panel discussion called “Farm to School”.  There is also a wine tasting, a garden tour and an open house at Turner’s Creek/Knox Folly.  It is a weekend full of fun and informative events, all about one of our favorite subjects: FOOD! Book your room at Brampton Bed and Breakfast Inn for this wonderful weekend.

Here is a sneak preview of Amy Kalafa’s film “Lunch Wars”,  also a book,  which she will discuss during her lecture.

The weekend kicks off with a wine-tasting at the Book Plate on Thursday, March 27 and continues through March 30.  If you care about food and or children’s health, this is something you may want to check out.
