Sunny, clear and COLD:  it’s the perfect weather for holiday shopping!!!  Popping in and out of mom and pop stores, warming up, and then heading out again.  Friendly shopkeepers who actually want to help you find what you’re looking for. Stopping for an espresso, a cappuccino, or maybe a brandy.  And who knows, the following week or two, the weather could turn unseasonably warm again, and who wants to think about shopping then?   If you are shopping in Kent County, Maryland this weekend, you will have oodles of chances to find the perfect gift for that special someone, or maybe even everyone, on your list!  Your holiday shopping should be fun, not stressful.  The best way  we can think of to accomplish that is to treat yourself to a stay here at the Brampton.  You can come to shop, then drop off to sleep in one one of our comfy beds in our Chestertown bed and breakfast!  Clever, right??

Of course this Friday is Black Friday, the official start of the “holiday shopping season” in Kent County, but the deals can be had all weekend long here on the Eastern Shore.  (Be sure to read all the way to the end of this post for a special incentive to come visit us this weekend!)

Country Crafts Guild Fall Arts & Crafts Show

If you prefer hand made and one of a kind items, then head over to Rock Hall to the Arts and Crafts show, where the 50 members make sure they don’t duplicate each others work, creating an extremely diverse display.  Pottery, jewelry, artwork, food items, flowers, wreaths, knitted goods….and on and on.   This is their 31st year, and the Guild supports both the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company and Kent County Public School’s Art Department.  Admission is only $2!!!

Small Business Saturday

Founded by American Express (sorry, we still don’t accept that card, but we support the thought!) in 2010, and officially recognized by the US Senate a year later, Small Business Saturday is all about promoting  small,  local businesses all across the country.  Hey, that’s us!  And boy does Chestertown have its share of terrific small businesses that are just filled to the brim with great gift ideas.  Just a few of our favorites:

The Book Plate, Finishing Touch, Gabriel’s, Sophisticated Vintage,  Treasures Re-found, Twigs and Teacups, and of course the Chestertown Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings!  Just ask us for our list; these and many more are all in downtown Chestertown, only 1.5 miles from the inn.

Shop near our Chestertown bed and breakfast!

So as you can see, the opportunities for gift buying abound near our Chestertown bed and breakfast.  After doing your due diligence stimulating the economy, you’re going to need a nap.  Or a sherry. Or maybe both.  But if you’re the type that gets revved up by shopping, you may want to stay awake for our extended afternoon tea hour on Saturday:  All those presents are going to need to be wrapped, and we’ve got just the place to do it, to take even more stress out of your life.

We’ll supply the paper, ribbons and bows, tape and scissors (you have to promise not to run with them), hot chocolate, marshmallows, a fire and even Christmas music.  Why not wrap them up here?  There are a limited number of rooms available for a coveted single night’s stay this Saturday, November 30th.  This doesn’t happen very often.  Come to Chestertown in the morning, do some shopping, check into our Chestertown bed and breakfast, wrap presents by a roaring fire,  have an early dinner and then turn in.  How could it be more relaxing than that?
